Please join the Urban Studies Program for its fall 2015 convocation lecture, which will be delivered by Dr. June Thomas Manning.

The title of the talk is “Race and Urban Planning: The North, The South.”

It will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, in Admissions Auditorium (right across George Street from the Cistern Yard).  A reception with Dr. Manning will follow.

Dr. Manning has published the key literature on race and planning in the U.S., with one of her foundational pieces titled “The Minority Race Planner.”  This piece explores the complicated role of racialized planners in a rapidly changing U.S.—a topic that she will address during the lecture.  She has also achieved the highest accomplishment within the American Institute of Certified Planners.  She is considered a “Fellow” (FAICP) of this organization.
