Student Garden News


I hope you had a great break and are ready for a spring semester full of fun at the Student Garden. We will start the semester with a Farm & Garden Club meeting Tuesday, January 27 at 5:30 pm in room 253 of the School of Sciences and Mathematics building. Please join us to discuss plans for the semester and the various ways you can get involved.

Workdays will be Tuesdays from 3-7 pm.

Farm & Club Meetings will be on the following Tuesdays at 5:30 pm in room 253 of the School of Sciences and Mathematics building: January 27, February 24, March 31 and April 21.

Garden Bed Building
Learn the basic principles about building a self-sustaining garden bed from the ground up by helping to build a bed at the garden.

Sprouts Workshop
Learn how to master the art of growing bean and veggie sprouts in your dorm room.
Tuesday, February 24
5:30-7:30pm


Crops in Pots
Learn how to grow food in containers in your backyard and in your house and even get some plants to take home.
Friday, March 13
3:30-7:00pm


Mushroom Inoculation
Participate in the annual inoculation of mushroom logs at the garden and learn the role of mycelium in the garden.
Satuday, March 28
10:00am-3:00pm


Native Bees & Hive Building
Learn about the native pollinators at the garden and help build “bee hotels” for the garden and one for yourself.
Saturday, April 11
10:00am-3:00pm

We're Hiring
We are hiring a student assistant to work 10 hours a week at the Student Garden at Dixie Plantation. Click the link to check out the job description. Please submit your resume and a recommendation from a professor to studentgarden@cofc.edu.
