Explanation of final quiz scores

On each quiz:

A check means you answered correctly and this is equal to a 4 =A

1/2 means I wasn't sure how much or if you read; this equals a 2 = C

A slash ------ means you did not answer correctly; it’s a 0 = F

There were 9 required quizzes (on Rachels Ch 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 and on Taylor's "God," Dostoevsky's "Suffering of Little Children," and Nagel's "The Mind-Body Problem").

There were also almost two dozen free quiz opportunities, including one in class free quiz (Rachels, Ch 7).

If you add up all the #s on your quizzes (using above key) (including from the quizzes returned at midterm) and divide by 9 (for the 9 required quizzes), this will be the quiz grade number on the top of your quizzes. If you also have free quizzes add them in and still divide by 9. Use the chart below to translate the # into a grade. Quizzes count for 10% of your grade.
